Kenya coffee beans are described by many as their favourite. Carefully grown in the high-altitude regions of Kenya such as Kiambu, Nyeri and Kirinyaga, conditions in these areas are known for their incredible output due to the optimum growing environment. Washed coffee processing is the favoured method here, which helps bring out the recognisable Kenyan coffee flavour. The typical Kenyan coffee profile is one of the most recognisable tastes in speciality coffee. Think distinct fruit and berry flavours, often with wine-like acidity and a full, juicy body.
Kenyan coffee is often sourced from cooperatives, where hundreds of smallholder farmers come together to create something special. Through working closely with export partners, we get the opportunity to taste them, summarised in this blog where we share our experiences on tasting coffee in Kenya.
