  • Sirinya Coffee, a family-owned farm, roastery, and shop in Chiang Rai, exemplifies sustainable coffee production with over 40 years of expertise. Founded by Oil and Goh Chaosuwanwilai, Sirinya uplifts the Doi Chang community through organic farming and innovative processing. This region transitioned from opium to coffee cultivation in the 1980s, setting a global standard for alternative development.

Sirinya’s meticulous process includes hand-sorting ripe cherries, anaerobic fermentation with local yeast, and controlled drying to achieve speciality-grade coffee. These efforts improve market value and sustainability while fostering reforestation and supporting local farmers.

Thailand’s coffee industry, promoted by King Bhumibol Adulyadej in the 1970s, has grown significantly, with Arabica thriving in northern highlands. Sirinya Coffee honours this legacy by combining tradition with innovation, showcasing the region’s potential in speciality coffee production while strengthening its communities and ecosystems.

Origin

Origin

Compared with other parts of the continent, coffee has been grown commercially in Thailand for a relatively short period of time - only really since the early 1960s. Most of the coffee grown in Thailand is robust, grown in the southern states while arnica is grown in the northern highland provinces of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. Coffee cultivation as has had a profound effect on this part of Thailand, providing long-term, sustainable and safe livelihoods for farmers, and in recent years producing speciality lots that are enjoyed by the booming domestic scene.
