Guided by Kazungu Charles’ vision to create opportunities for family, friends and community, the Maraba Coffee Washing Station was founded in 2012, in the picturesque district of Nyaruguru.
A husband and wife duo lead the project with a deep sense of responsibility. Dedicated to improving the environment around them, they built new sun-drying beds, fermentation tanks and washing channels, and developed a water recycling system to ensure responsible water usage during cherry de-pulping. Their commitment to improving their community extends to their farmers and neighbouring villagers in need and they offer financial support as loans, fostering mutual support and growth within the community.
Maraba Coffee Washing Station thrives on the principles of quality and care. Boasting an impressive processing capacity of more than 1,000 tons per season and the guidance of dedicated agronomists, the station services 3694 smallholder farmers, who have received training on good agriculture practices, ensuring a bountiful harvest season and high-quality coffees.
