  • The Rung’eto Farmer’s Co-operative Society was formed after the liquidation of the Ngiriama Co-operative Society, uniting Kiangoi, Karimikui, and Kii factories. Today, Rungeto supports 1,150 coffee farmers, producing high-quality coffee. To diversify income, the society operates a dairy cooling plant, collecting over 120,000 litres of milk monthly, supplying one of Kenya's largest dairy companies. Additionally, Fairtrade premiums have helped Rung’eto establish a fuel station, generating extra income to cover operational costs. This diversification has allowed farmers to increase their earnings, enhancing their livelihoods through a more sustainable and varied income base.

Producer

Coffee first came to the Rungeto area in the 1950’s. As is true in all of life, growers experienced highs and lows including the rise of the giant Ngariama Cooperative and its eventual demise. In 1997, 1,150 members of the defunct Ngariama Co-op came together to form the Rungeto Cooperative Society, and soon re-opened Ngariama’s three factories (processing mills), Kii (built in 1965), Karimikui (1968), and Kiangoi (1995). Member growers bring their coffees to the mills for fresh water processing courtesy of the Kii River.

Origin

Origin

Kenya’s reputation for quality coffee is well deserved, recognised globally for a recognisable tasting profile and meticulous production which results in exceptional flavours. Most coffee is a washed process, dried in the sun on African beds. We return to Kenya time and again for their consistently bright and juicy cups, known for their high acidity and refreshing citrus notes.

    Another great bean for V60

Fruity and botanical notes when brewed with V60. Slightly darker bean with acidic undertones.
